The high number of road deaths in the country is due to the lack of self-discipline among Malaysian drivers, said the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Malaysians are only courteous when they see police or JPJ officers.
It is common to see drivers slowing down when the police or the JPJ is conducting roadblocks and checks.
If they have not been caught, they would not follow the laws.
There are about 500 road deaths a month in the country.
The problem is, our drivers will break the rules when there is no enforcement by the police or the JPJ.
So, it is a problem of a lack of self-discipline among our road users.
