Japanese businessman buried four million dollars in his garden for safekeeping

A safe-deposit in Bank isn't always the best solution.
That leaves him with only one solution: Buried the money in the garden for safekeeping

An elderly Japanese businessman buried four million dollars in his garden for safekeeping only to find it dug up by a thief, police said Thursday.
The man in his 80s discovered the theft in October and died two months later. As he left no records, it took time for investigators to piece together the details.

The man, who was still serving on a corporate board when he died, had put cash into a container over four decades, repeatedly digging it up and then placing it back in the ground in his yard in southern Saga prefecture.

On October 10, he noticed at around 6:00 am that something was amiss.

“He noticed that there are signs that parts of his yard were dug up. Then he learned that the container in which he kept the money was gone,” a local police official said.

Police were searching for the culprit behind the theft of the cash, estimated at 360 million yen (four million dollars).

“He buried the money because financial institutions are offering only low interest rates, and he thought it was better to keep his cash himself,” the official said.

“He chose to bury the cash in his garden to avoid damage from possible house fires or earthquakes,” he said.

The businessman had recollected that the last time he had checked the money was in the middle of 2007, the official said.

Sweet Way To Help The Boss

Some workers at a Michigan pancake restaurant found a sweet way to help out their boss and the workplace they love.
With customer traffic down a bit at Mr. B's Pancake House lately, lead server Mary VanDam asked co-workers if they might be willing to work a shift without wages to help out owner Dave Barham.
The 17 servers, cooks, busboys, dishwashers, cashiers and hostesses who worked the day shift on Jan. 18 received only tips for compensation.
"This is a wonderful business. We want to see it succeed," VanDam, 51, told The Muskegon Chronicle for a story published Tuesday.
When customers heard about the workers' effort, they tipped a little more. The shift's workers divided the gratuities equally and each took home $51.

Mr Barham owner of Mr. B's Pancake House

"Isn't that something?" Barham asked.
He said he doesn't want people to get the impression his business is doing poorly, but "it's tight for everyone all over."
VanDam said Barham met his payroll more than once by dipping into his own pockets.
All 31 of the restaurant's workers had volunteered, but they agreed the no-wage effort would be for one shift.
"We wish we could have saved him $5,000," VanDam said. "We wanted to give back to him, lighten the load a little."

Ox Year bring "Ox-tuplets" babies

A woman has given birth to eight babies in Southern California, the world's second live-born set of octuplets. The mother, who was not identified, on Monday gave birth to six girls and two boys weighing between 820 grams (1.8 pounds) and 1.54kg (3.4 pounds), doctors at Kaiser Permanante hospital told the KCAL9 television station.

"It's a surprise," Dr Karen Maples said.
"Eight newborns are in stable condition and they're doing quite well."
Doctors estimated the woman's delivery lasted only five minutes.
"They were all screaming and kicking around very vigorously," Dr Harold Henry told the TV station.

The first live-born octuplets were born in Houston in 1998, and one baby died about a week later. The surviving siblings - girls Ebuka, Gorom, Chidi, Chima and Echerem, and their brothers Ikem and Jioke - celebrated their 10th birthday in December.
Their parents, Nkem Chukwu and Iyke Louis Udobi, said they were astonished and grateful their children have grown up to be healthy and active kids.

UPDATE:30 Jan 2009

The mother in California who gave birth to eight babies on Monday has six children already, CBS news discovered. Today on the Early Show, a segment on the now-doubled family aired. They took cameras to the home and neighborhood where the mom lives in a house with her parents, four older sons and two older daughters. Below the video is the transcript.

MORE UPDATE:

The woman who gave birth to octuplets this week conceived all 14 of her children through in vitro fertilization, is not married and has been obsessed with having children since she was a teenager, her mother said.
Angela Suleman told The Associated Press she was not supportive when her daughter, Nadya Suleman, decided to have more embryos implanted last year.
The woman who gave birth to octuplets Monday in California lives in this home with her parents in Whittier -- and has six other children. Her mother, Angela Suleman, said Friday that she did not want her daughter, Nadya, to get pregnant again, and plans to leave when she returns from the hospital. Nadya Suleman had fertility treatments in order to give birth.

Octuplets’ mother wants Oprah to turn her into a $2m TV star

THE single mother of octuplets born in California last week is seeking $2m (£1.37m) from media interviews and commercial sponsorship to help pay the cost of raising the children.
Nadya Suleman, 33, plans a career as a television childcare expert after it emerged last week that she already had six children before giving birth on Monday. She now has 14 below the age of eight.

I always wanted a huge family:
Mother of octuplets speaks for the first time

UPDATE: 12 FEB 2009

Nadya Suleman, the now-infamous mother of octuplets, has launched her own Web site
The site (www.thenadyasulemanfamily.com) -- which went live Tuesday -- features a photo of Suleman and her eight newborns, along with the caption "Proud Mother of 14."

Nadya Suleman received death threats

Nadya Suleman, the now-infamous mother of octuplets, has received death threats, her publicist, Joann Killeen, claims.
Killeen says the threats got so bad that Suleman, 33, and her other six children recently moved into a rented house and out of the home she was sharing with her parents in southern California.

"Because of the death threats to Nadya and her family, as well as the death threats to me and my agency, we were in a secure location last week," Killeen says on Thursday's Dr. Phil show. "When the risk was determined, it was no longer a high threat, we were able to leave that location."

UPDATE: 25 FEB 2009

Octuplets mom story takes surreal turns

Nadya Suleman's octuplets story that has drawn worldwide attention has experienced another turn of event with mother Suleman fearing that Kaiser Permanente's Bellflower Medical Center in California may not release her octuplets to her until she proves she can care for them.
Suleman told talk show host "Dr. Phil" McGraw today she feared the Medical Center would not let her take the eight babies with her. The octuplets were born on Jan. 26, 2008.
McGraw said Suleman called him this afternoon, distressed after talking with Kaiser officials.
"What she is telling me is that unless and until she has a better living arrangement, that they are not likely to release the children to her," McGraw told The Times.
Ever since the babies were born, the octuplet story has taken surreal turns. This also included huge media attention with paparazzi camping out in front of octuplet mom Nadya Suleman's Whittier home ever since she came back a few weeks ago.
The home belongs to her mother and is slated for foreclosure. Suleman has said she plans to move to a larger home that can accommodate all 14 of her children.
On Monday, a neighbor of Suleman walked out of his home with a shotgun and began yelling unspecified threats at media persons
who have been keenly following the case since, police said.
The police registered a crime report and questioned the man, who was not identified because of the ongoing investigation. However, the man said "he was tired of the attention."

Indian Ocean best place to see "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse

A few lucky people in the Indian Ocean will be treated to a rare event on Monday 26 Jan 2009 when an annular solar eclipse will transform the Sun into a dark disc with a blazing ring-shaped corona around its rim. In solar eclipses, the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, casting its shadow on the terrestrial surface.
In an annular eclipse, a tiny shift in distance that results from celestial mechanics means the Moon does not completely cover the Sun's face, as it does in a total eclipse.
Instead, for those directly under the alignment, the Moon covers most of the Sun's surface, and a ring-like crown of solar light blazes from the edge of the disk.
For those watching from the fringe of the track, the Sun is partially obscured, as if a bite has been taken out of it.
According to veteran NASA eclipse-watcher Fred Espenak, the total eclipse track will run from west to east on Monday from 0606 GMT to 0952 GMT.

It will traverse the Indian Ocean and western Indonesia before petering out just short of Mindanao, the Philippines. The partial eclipse will be seen in a much wider swathe, including the southern third of Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Southeast India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia. It will be the only annular solar eclipse this year. The last was on 7 February, 2007, and after Monday, the next one will be on 15 January, 2010.
The big event for eclipse junkies this year is on July 22, when a total solar eclipse will be visible from India and China, the world's two most populous countries.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival, one of the traditional Chinese holidays, is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Chinese calendar, which falls this year on 26 JAN 2009Around the New Year, Chinese people greet each other with: "Congratulations and be prosperous"or "Gong Xi Fa Cai" and Happy Chinese New Year.A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve where members of the family, near and far, get together for celebration. The New Year's Eve dinner is very large and traditionally includes chicken. Fish is a homophone for phrases which could mean "be blessed every year" or "have profit every year".

Ang Pow with image of a fruiting kumquat tree would be to convey progress in one's efforts.

Traditionally, red packets are passed out during the Chinese New Year's celebrations, from married couples to unmarried people. Married couples usually give out two red packets on the first new year after being married. This is because the wife presents one and the husband presents one. In subsequent years they may give one as a couple.A red packet is simply a red envelope with gift money in it, which symbolizes luck and wealth. To the Chinese, the gift of the red packet is a form of ‘lai see’, which means the passing of good luck to the recipient. When you give someone an ang pow, it is likened to wrapping up all your good intentions and passing it on to the recipient,The whole idea is to foster the spirit of giving.

The Chinese believe that when you give you will receive back two-fold.There is the general consensus that there should be no other colour for the ang pow packet other than red.The amount of money inside must be even number , not odd number. Usually , when you get ang pow from a successful or well to do person , its lucky to keep the ang pow intact . Do not spend it . On the other hand , if you get one from someone down in the luck , quickly spend the money inside .

Chinese astrology for the year of the un-bullish Ox 2009

The ox, one of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, symbolizes calm, hard work, resolve and tenacity. According to legend, the ox allowed the cunning rat to ride on its head in a race to determine the animals' order. Shortly before the ox crossed the finish line, the rat leaped off to claim victory. Chinese soothsayers see a deepening recession, millions more losing their jobs, and stocks and home prices continuing to fall in the year of the Ox. That's more or less in line with what some economists are predicting,

Ox
(1949, 1961, 1973,1985, 1997,2009)
This year will be smoother compared to last year although there will also be many challenges ahead in different areas of your life. You will also have to deal with problems on your own and that will create a sense of loneliness and helplessness. Your concentration will be weaker and this might place you in a fragile position. You will tend to overlook details and make mistakes.
Aside from affecting your performance and luck, this might lead make you more accidentprone. Your health problems will mostly be due to stress. So, instead of dwelling on how things should be, learn to relax to reduce your stress levels. Be subtle rather than forceful to achieve your objectives this year. By taking one step back, you will actually be taking three steps forward.

Tiger
(1950, 1962, 1974,1986, 1998)
You will be popular this year and should use this time to participate in more social activities to reap the benefits. You should gain greater authority or responsibilities and this will be a good time to prove yourself. However, do not get carried away as challenges this year will be sudden and harsh. People might even put you down unexpectedly or a sudden crisis might appear from thin air. You will need to be alert and prepared for all possibilities. Be careful not to allow yourself to be duped. There is a strong indication that you will be cheated or even get robbed. This year, males will have better luck than females. Females need to work with males or seek help from males to improve their luck. Your health will be average and your wealth will be below average. You tend to overspend and your gambling luck will be weaker than usual.

Rabbit
(1951, 1963, 1975, 1987,1999)
This year will be another challenging year for the Rabbit. You might be surprised by the lack of support from others, something which you got easily before. There is also a high probability that you will get caught up in some sticky situations involving legal problems and even criminal conviction. You might also find yourself trapped in other undesirable situations. This year, there will be many people who will plot against you. Despite your happy-go-lucky nature, it will be important for you to remain alert. Although this will be a stressful year for you, avoid being aggressive or making impulsive decisions. It is better to be rational and reasonable to see things clearly in order to get the help you need to see you through. One good thing to come out of these problems: you will be able to tell your friends from those out to take advantage of you. Your health will generally be poorer than usual and you will also be accident-prone. If you have elders in your family, be extra careful with their health and safety too. Your wealth luck will not be good either and there might also be the likelihood of incurring huge expenses in several unwanted areas.

Dragon
(1952, 1964, 1976,1988, 2000)
You will not benefit as much from your good luck this year though females tend to h a v e better luck than the males. There will be many matters that will require your attention but you will not be alone. You will get some help from others. You should appreciate the support that you get from other people and avoid getting into direct confl ict with others. Also, be careful of those trying to use underhanded tactics to make life diffi cult for you. Be cautious of getting involved in legal problems. Avoid making unnecessary comments or getting involved in matters that do not directly affect you or you might get distracted easily. Should you be doing something important or operating machinery, it will be important to stay focused as it might have an impact on your performance. Your wealth luck will be below average. You might also tend to be more sceptible to common illnesses on a regular basis this year. Ensure you have adequate rest and take the necessary nutrients.

Snake
(1953, 1965,1977, 1989,2001)
This will be a great time for you in terms of c a r e e r as your contributions and efforts will be recognised. You will also enjoy promotions and salary increments which means that you might be busier this year. You will need to be careful of your health due to your tight schedule. Be careful of your elders’ health and safety as well. However, be wary of people who might want to tempt you into doing things that are against your conscience. There will also be others who like to spread gossip or talk badly about you this year. Avoid indulging in gossips yourself as you will need to be careful with your words and behaviour. Many things will be going on behind your
back and you might not always have the opportunity to defend yourself. You should be clear in your communications and avoid ambiguity. Pay more attention to your finance this year and it will save you from a lot of trouble in the future.

Horse
(1954, 1966, 1978,1990, 2002)
This will be a tricky year for you. Although you will have great potential to do well in terms of wealth and career, there will be many hidden dangers along the way. The popularity that you have will only attract those who are not genuine, so be aware. Worst, there’s a high tendency of you getting into trouble through your involvement with the wrong people.Avoid too much socialising and entertaining as you might end up wasting your time in building up relationships that will not last. In addition, such a lifestyle will place your health and safety at risk. Instead, use your time to pursue your goals. To get the best out of this year, you might want to stay focused on your goals and lead a healthy lifestyle. Also, don’t run the risk of accepting any indecent proposals no matter how tempting they might be.

Goat
(1955, 1967, 1979,1991, 2003)
This will be a difficult year for you. Although you will have a small helpful star shining upon you, it will be inadequate. It is important for you to count your blessings this year and appreciate what you have. There will be many problems that seem to challenge your patience. You will become short-tempered and impulsive which is at odds with your nature. For you to better survive this year, you should try to remain calm and remind yourself not to be impulsive. Don’t get involved in other people’s matters and don’t indulge in gossips. Your health will be unstable due to the
stress and anger from all the problems you face throughout the year. Your wealth will also be below average due to your own high expenses and impulsive spending. Your intuition might not be your best guide either. Thus, try to be easy on yourself and others and learn the lessons of life. Don’t make things worse, keep a low profi le and focus on fi nding peace within yourself.

Monkey
(1956, 1968, 1980,1992, 2004)
This is going to be a wonderful year for you. As you are already in a better position compared to others, this will be a good time to make your dreams come true. Not only will your plans materialise, but you will also enjoy greater popularity. People will give you the support that you need and even strangers will be friendly towards you. Although, in general, you will be in a good position for great advancements, you will need to be aware of your own behaviour and how others might react to you. Remain humble and modest. It will be best not to indulge in gossips or speak badly about others. Another possible danger you might face this year is being complacent. Hence, it is important that you be prepared with contingency plans should things take a sudden turn for the worse. Not only will this give you greater assurance of success, others will also be deeply impressed with your foresight. You might fall in love this year if you are single. This will also be a good time to strengthen your relationship if you already have one. Try to stay focused on your relationship and not create misunderstandings.Be careful of health issues that might strike without warning.

Rooster
(1957, 1969, 1981,1993, 2005)
Your good luck from the year of the Rat will continue into the Year of the Ox. However, there will be many more uncertainties this year. The good news is that these uncertainties will not strike unexpectedly. You will have adequate time to take necessary precautions. You will need to tread carefully and expect more challenges. This will be a good time for you to take up courses and pick up new skills. Students will succeed with flying colours this year with little effort.
You will also continue to gain great wealth. However, there will be more people out to hinder your growth or try to cheat you of your money. At the same time, you will also meet special people who might bring great success upon you. The challenge for you will be to identify such people and not to trust in the wrong ones. Your health in general will be average but you will be more accident prone than usual and there might even be a need for surgery.

Dog
(1958, 1970, 1982,1994, 2006)
This is a good year for you in terms of career and recognition from authority fi gures.
But the additional responsibilities and work that come with this will consume more of your time and affect your mood. You will have less tolerance towards your colleagues and associates.
Your wealth will be good and there will be chances for you to increase your sources of revenue. However, don’t make investments or get involved in get-rich-quick schemes. Though you will be doing well in many aspects of your life, you will tend to feel lonely or emotionally detached. It might be that you will become frustrated with people in general and will isolate yourself which will affect your relationship or potential relationships. You might also become the victim of
gossips and misunderstandings in that you might either be the target of gossips or that you might allow gossip to cloud your judgment. Your health will be average but you will need to be careful of problems relating to irregular meals and even food poisoning. You will also need to pay special attention to your elders’ health and safety.

Pig
(1959, 1971, 1983,1995, 2007)
Though the Year of the Ox may not be a fantastic one for you, it will be better than the Rat year, and a very busy year for you. There are strong indications of movement. This will imply that you might be moving house, running around to get things done, travelling often overseas or even relocating to other countries. You might also find yourself in direct conflict with other people and having to fend for yourself. The good news is there will not be many people who will deliberately try to hinder you from your goals. Due to your tight schedule, you might neglect your health and fall ill easily. There will also be indications of being attacked by animals. You will also need to pay attention to your elders’ health and safety. You might also not spend enough time with your friends and family and this might cause unhappiness and dissatisfaction among them. Your relationships will also suffer. Your wealth luck is below average. Your expenses are high and your sources of income do not seem to increase correspondingly. You should try to maintain a low profile and be conservative in your approach. Pace yourself in what needs to be done and take breaks in between. This will prevent you from being burnt out.

Rat
(1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008)
You will be presented with many opportunities to develop and grow this year. However, the temptation to bury yourself in your work and give of your best might lead you to isolate yourself from others. People might get jealous and start to accuse you of being arrogant and proud. Deal with these issues and be diplomatic in doing so. With your charm and intelligence, you will be able to manage those who oppose you. Aside from this, your immune system will be poor this year and you might easily contract common illnesses. Your relationship will also be unstable. The stress that you receive from other areas of your life will likely cloud your judgment regarding your relationships.

Obama-fever swept the globe

Across Asia, and the world, people gathered Tuesday (20 Jan) to mark the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
Hula dancers readied for the stage in a small Japanese city that coincidentally bears his name. Children from his former school in Indonesia were to sing for a gathering of well-wishers. And in Hong Kong, Americans prepared to party into the night. In one of the kick-off events, the Japanese town of Obama put up stages outside a local Buddhist temple for an "Obama for Obama" event, featuring the hula dancers _ Obama was born in Hawaii, and hula is popular in Japan _ and speeches by local dignitaries.

The town has been big on Obama all the way from the primaries. After his election, more than 1,000 people turned out for a raucus celebration. Obama, which means "little beach," has a population of 32,000.
The town's businesses have pumped out Barack Obama sweet bean cakes, chopsticks, T-shirts, fish burgers, neck ties, and Obama Noodles marked "For world peace and stability." Most items depict only the back of his head, to avoid accusations of pirating his image.

Obama Mayor Koji Matsuzaki was out of town on business, but issued a statement.
"As mayor of the city with the same name, Obama, I feel extremely delighted," he said. "We all have long waited for this blissful moment."
Restaurant owner Masami Shirai, 59, said he hopes President Obama will come to Obama City.
"We already set up a co-educational hula dancing team so we can welcome him if he visits," he said.

In Indonesia, where Obama spent four years as a boy, children from his former school were to sing at celebrations in downtown Jakarta and former classmates of the president-elect were to gather to watch his speech.
Hopes are high that Obama will return in the first 100 days of his presidency to the tropical country where he is known by the nickname Barry.
Rully Dasaad, former Obama classmate at Menteng 1 elementary school and fellow boy scout, said he believed Obama's time in Indonesia shaped him as a person.

"I'm proud that the next president is someone who I have shared time with," he said. "It was a crucial time for children our age, it is when we learned tolerance, sharing, pluralism, acceptance and respect of difference in cultures and religions."
Hong Kong was also marking the historic transition.
The Madame Tussauds museum at Hong Kong's popular mountaintop tourist attraction Victoria Peak was due to unveil a wax figure of Obama, adding to its collection of statues of Chinese celebrities like Jackie Chan, former Chinese leaders Mao Zedong and Jiang Zemin and the country's first astronaut, Yang Liwei.
The wax figure was part of a global rollout _ Obama figures have already been unveiled at Madame Tussauds museums in London, Berlin and New York.

Shocking: Cat was bludgeoned to death

There are many different reasons why individuals abuse animals.
Acts of intentional cruelty are often some of the most disturbing and should be considered signs of serious psychological problems. This type of behavior is often associated with sociopathic behavior and should be taken very seriously. Here you can see a Chinese girl bludgeoned a cat to death. The Cat left to die slowly in shock and excrutiating pain. The sad part is China has no animal protection laws.
Cats lover, please say something here!!

Miracle on the Hudson

The pilot, copilot, the flight attendants, the air traffic controllers guiding the flight low over Manhattan and the rescuers were the key factors in Thursday’s “miracle on the Hudson."
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the pilot "did a masterful job of landing the plane in the river and then making sure that everybody got out. Sullenberger walked the plane twice after everybody else was off to verify that there was nobody else on board, the mayor said. “He was the last one up the aisle, and he made sure that there was nobody behind him.”
Their actions saved all 155 people aboard.

THE PILOT

Sullenberger, 57, is a former fighter pilot who runs a safety consulting firm as well as flying commercial aircraft. He’s flown for US Airways since 1980 and flew F-4 fighter jets with the Air Force in the 1970s. He has served on a board that investigated aircraft accidents and participated in several National Transportation Safety Board investigations. He is president of Safety Reliability Methods, a California firm that uses commercial aviation as a basis for safety consulting in other fields.

Chinese national Wang Guiying has waited a lifetime to find the man of her dreams! Born in southern Guizhou province and the child of a salt merchant.
After growing up seeing her uncles and other men beat their wives, Wang, now 107 years old, swore off marriage. Women, you see, didn’t have many rights at the time and were very low on social standing.. As time marched on, however, Wang has seen women’s lots change; this go-getter’s now on the prowl for a man.
Wang Guiying is worried she is becoming a burden to her aging nieces and nephews since breaking her leg when she was 102 and had to stop doing chores like washing her clothes.
"I'm already 107 and I still haven't got married," the Chongqing Commercial Times quoted her saying. "What will happen if I don't hurry up and find a husband?"
Local officials seem more than happy to help Wang search for a 100-year-old groom. They suggest her family scour homes for the elderly in search of Mr. Right. Good luck, Wang! Everything is possible!

NOW READ THE MALAYSIAN STORY

Marriage is made in Heaven.
A 37-YEAR-OLD labourer who married a woman almost three times his age, said their marriage was a happy one and there were no problems between them despite their age gap. Mohd Nor Musa who married 106-year-old Wook Kundur three years ago, said they first met when he rented a room in Wook’s house at Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu, and treated her like an adopted mother.
Wook, who was living alone at the time, suggested they marry to avoid the negative perception in the community and also because Mohd Nor could take better care of her.
Describing her husband as caring and gentlemanly, she said Mohd Nor always knew how to cheer her up. Mohd Nor said he did not feel embarrassed when his siblings visited him but felt proud to have an elderly wife.

107-year-old wants 23rd hubby

KUALA BERANG: Afraid that her current husband might leave her after completing his drug rehabilitation programme, centenarian Mek Wok Kundor is looking to marry again - for the 23rd time.

The 107-year-old, who married Mohd Noor Che Musa, 37, in 2005, said they lived blissfully until he volunteered to treat his drug habit in Kuala Lumpur in July.

Tok Wook, as she is fondly known, now believes her husband might leave her after his programme ends and settle down in Kuala Lumpur besides marrying a woman younger than her.
“Lately, there is this kind of insecurity in me,” she said.

Tok Wook, who lives in Kampung Bukit TokBat here, said she planned to visit Mohd Noor on the second day of Hari Raya if her neighbours were willing to drive her to Kuala Lumpur.

“I want to express my feelings and tell him that I am lonely without him and if he reciprocates, I will wait for him without thinking of another marriage,” she added

She said she felt lonely without a companion during Ramadan.

“I am not searching for a man as handsome as our Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak), but someone to accompany me in my twilight years,” she said.

“I realise that I am an aged woman. I don’t have the body nor am I a young woman who can attract anyone.

“My intention to remarry is to fill my forlornness and nothing more than that.”

She, however, declined to talk about her past marriages and the number of children she has.

All she said about her kids was that they were old and dependent on their children.

While she spent her last Hari Raya with Mohd Noor’s family in Bachok Kelantan, Tok Wook will celebrate it this year with her neighbours.

“I will wear a baju kurung that was given as gift by my husband in January,” she said.

Depp will be paid more than $35 million for Pirates

ACTOR JOHNNY DEPP has inked a deal of more than $35 million for the fourth instalment of Pirates Of The Caribbean movie.

The actor will become Hollywood’s current highest-paid actor when he returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, reported thesun.co.uk. This places him ahead of the likes of Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson, who charge about $30 million per movie.

Makers at Disney have agreed to pay so much to the 46-year-old because regular co-stars Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are not returning this time.

Geoffrey Rush will again play Captain Barbossa and actress Penelope Cruz is expected to be the female lead.

“The movie will feature flashbacks to Jack’s early life,” said a source.

MORE ON JOHNNY DEPP

Johnny Depp has been named Sexiest Man Alive 2009.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star has been awarded the title by the US magazine People for the second time, after first being given the accolade in 2003. He is the third man to gain the honour twice, matching George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

A spokesperson for the publication said: "At 46, the father of two still reigns as Hollywood's most irresistible iconoclast; as one-of-a-kind as his beloved 15-year-old boots and as smouldering as his favourite Cuban cigars.

"He has had women swooning since his days as a teen detective on '21 Jump Street'."

Also included on the list are Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, David Beckham, Gilles Marini, Nick Cannon and Chris Daughtry and Robert Downey Jr.

Upon hearing of his inclusion, Chris composed a song which included the lyrics: "Sexiest man alive? / Am I at least Top 5? / I know being bald /won't get me the cover / I just hope it's not page twentysomething or other."

False reports had circulated earlier this week that 'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson had been awarded the title.

Hugh Jackman will also be pleased, as earlier this month he told how he was looking forward to passing on the Sexiest Man Alive title he was awarded last year so he could stop taking care of himself.

He said: "The pressure's off. I can be a slob again. I thought there were thousands of other guys that deserved it, but it's been a great year."

Previous stars named Sexiest Man Alive by People include Matt Damon, Matthew McConaughey and Jude Law.

White Weddings in Sweeden Ice Hotel

Couples from all over the world come to Jukkasjärvi to pledge eternal fidelity to each other. The ceremony and the unique experience of the place, the ice, the snow and the almost unreal environment leave no-one untouched. And perhaps the shared memories and experiences are stronger for the very reason that the chapel is impermanent. When no architectural memento exists, the memories and the vows exchanged are especially cherished. With a room temperature zero minus five degrees Centigrade, one night at this hotel would cost you $800 or more.

Customers visit one of the bedrooms in Jukkasjaervi Ice Hotel in Sweden, the world's first ice hotel, on Jan. 8, 2009. An ice hotel is a temporary hotel made up entirely of snow and sculpted blocks of ice. The Jukkasjaervi Ice Hotel has 91 rooms this year and is rebuilt every winter.

A Swedish couple pose in the chapel of the ice hotel in Jukkasjarvi on January 9, 2009 after getting married. Around 150 marriages happen at the chapel each winter. The chapel and ice hotel are temporary buildings since the structure of the chapel and of the ice hotel melts away in spring
